Welcome to ToPDB !!!

Being poor man's apple, tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) has a broad fame worldwide because of its nutritional values. It's one of the most significant horticultural crop used irrespective of rich and poor alike. According to FAOSTAT Database 2004, top five leading tomato-producing countries are the United States, China, Turkey, Italy, and India. In India the crop is grown over an area of 1200 hectares with an average yield of 250-300 quintal per hectare. The tomato crop suffers from a large number of pathogenic diseases induced by fungi, viruses, mycoplasma, nematode and bacteria every year and cause substantial losses in the yield and quality of tomato production and cultivation. Therefore, there is a dire need of an information pool, which can use different bioinformatics resources viz., databases and tools to facilitate comprehensive repository for tomato crop pathogens and diseases information.

ToPDb: Tomato crop Pathogen Database is a manually curated database which dissects type of pathogen, pathogen name, genes responsible for disease, disease name, symptoms of disease, controls of disease, pathogen etiology. Moreover, its rich user interface provides the freedom to access through Pathogen name, ToPDb Pathogen id, Disease name and ToPDb Disease id, and NCBI taxonomy id.
