    Root Knot :

    Disease ID : ToPDB_DD035

    Summary :

Introduction : Root knot disease is a soil borne disease caused by nematodes and active in hot climates. About 2000 plants are susceptible to infection by this disease , causes 5% of global crop loss.

Pathogen cause : Meloidogyne incognita , Meloidogyne javanica

Host distribution : Lycopersicon esculentum, Abelmoschus esculentus, Carya illinoensis, Colocasia esculenta

    Sign and Symptoms:

Plants stunted, wilted, and yellow; nodules on roots.

    Etiology:

Root-knot nematode produces small, discrete galls while the southern and javanese root-knot nematodes produce large galls and massive root swellings. Infected plants are stunted, appear yellow or pale green in color, and wilt easily, even when soil moisture is adequate. Severe infestations can dramatically reduce yields and eventually kill plants.
